01-Jul Wed Canada Day. Elk Mountain. Come and celebrate Canada Day with a hike to Elk Mountain, near Chilliwack. Bring your flags! It may be too early for a good show of wildflowers in the meadows, but we can hope for good views of Mount Baker and the other peaks to the south and east. 18-Jul Sat "We will make a loop around part of Burnaby Mountain.  Starting near Horizons Restaurant we will drop down about 300m and follow various intersecting trails as we circle around the west and south sides of the mountain before climbing back up 300m, around the SFU campus and back to the picnic area in time for the BBQ.  Total distance about 12km, I expect this will take us about 4 hours." 25-Jul Sat Tricouni Meadows west approach. This route has an exciting 4x4 approach; we will then head up through meadows to the lake, and then leave the trail and cross a steep hillside to a great viewpoint over Whistler, Garibaldi and down towards Squamish.  Please note that this hike involves off-trail travel; participants should be comfortable with rock scrambling and steep slopes.  Hiking boots, not runners, are required.
